Each Sabina Savage scarf is a collectible, heritage piece — a wearable work of art.
Intricate designs tell an extensively researched and imaginative story. Each illustration is hand-drawn by Sabina—sometimes taking up to six weeks for a single design. The matte, opaque texture of the medium-weight, beautifully soft wool and silk blend fabric gives the prints an antique finish. Hand-finished with a delicate fringe, each piece is instantly recognizable.
From the Rhymes of London Collection (Spring 2025): Nursery rhymes, or Mother Goose rhymes, are traditional poems or songs developed for children, although many are said to contain hidden meanings and origins within their prose, some darker connotations proving better concealed than others.
For this design, Sabina chose to invoke the idea of Mother Goose, flying gracefully above the churches of Victorian London. She is adorned with a pretty grosgrain ribbon, swirling and twisting in an elegant and pleasing spiral, although the ribbon seems to have snapped, just as it crosses her neck. Above her, the sky is filled with a scene of exotic and explosively vibrant citrus fruits, each so foreign and shocking against the grey London landscape. Amongst the fruits, a striking green parrot looms, heralding the arrival of tropical new species to England.
